1. What are Remifemin® tablets and what are they used for?
Remifemin® tablets are herbal medicinal products for
menopausal symptoms and for problems before the menstrual period begins.
Remifemin® tablets are used:
- For menopausal symptoms (menopausal) such as hot flashes,
sweating, sleep disorders, nervousness and upset
states - Neurovegetative symptoms before the menstrual period
begins.
Remifemin® tablets must not be taken
if you are hypersensitive to
black cohosh or any of the other ingredients of Remifemin® tablets.
Take special care when taking Remifemin® tablets:
If the liver is damaged, Remifemin® tablets should only be used after consulting
a doctor.
Patients should stop taking Remifemin® tablets immediately if
signs of liver damage occur (jaundice, dark urine, upper abdominal pain,
nausea, loss of appetite, tiredness) and consult a doctor.
If there is a feeling of tension or swelling in the breasts as well as disorders or
Recurrence of the menstrual period as well as persistent unclear or new
symptoms should first consult a doctor for diagnostic clarification
.
The simultaneous intake of estrogens may only take place under medical supervision,
as Remifemin® tablets can increase their effect. Talk to your
doctor.
If the symptoms
persist or if the application does not achieve the expected success , medical advice is required as soon as possible.
When taking Remifemin® tablets with other drugs:
There are no known interactions. Please tell your doctor or pharmacist
if you are taking or have recently taken other medicines,
including medicines obtained without a prescription.
Pregnancy and lactation:
Due to insufficient studies during pregnancy and lactation,
Remifemin® tablets should not be used.
A pregnancy must be reported to the doctor.
Driving and using machines:
No special precautionary measures are necessary.
Important information about certain other ingredients of Remifemin®
tablets:
This medicinal product contains lactose. Therefore, please take Remifemin® tablets
only after consulting your doctor or pharmacist if you know
that you are intolerant to sugar.
3. How should Remifemin® tablets be taken?
Always take Remifemin® tablets exactly as your doctor has told you.
Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure
.
Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the usual dose is:
Take 1 tablet whole with some liquid twice a day (morning and evening)
(do not suck).
Duration of use:
Remifemin® tablets do not take effect immediately. The first therapeutic
effects can be seen after 2 weeks of treatment.
Remifemin® tablets should be used over
a longer period of time since the treatment results improve with longer periods of use . But not to other diseases
overlooked, the doctor should be consulted after 6 months.
If you have taken more Remifemin® tablets than
you should:
If you overdose on Remifemin® tablets, the listed side effects
may be more pronounced . You should then stop taking the medicine and see a doctor
.
If you forget to
take Remifemin® tablets: Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose
.

4. What side effects are possible?
Like all medicines, Remifemin® tablets can have side effects,
but not everybody gets them.
The evaluation of side effects is based on the following frequency ratings
:
Very common: more than 1 in
10 patients, common: 1 to 10 patients in 100, uncommon:
1 to 10 patients in 1,000,
rare: 1 to 10 patients in 10,000,
very rare: less than 1 in 10,000 treated patients
Not known: frequency cannot be estimated from the available data
Possible side effects:
rare:
1 in
10,000 treated patients
- gastrointestinal complaints (dyspeptic symptoms, diarrhea)
- allergic reactions of the skin (hives, itchy skin,
rash)
- facial edema and peripheral edema
- increase in liver values (transaminases)
- weight gain
very rare:
less than 1 in 10,000
patients treated - liver damage when using medicinal products containing cimicifuge rootstock. At present, a definite causal relationship with these drugs has not been proven. In these cases you should stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if any of the side effects gets serious or if you notice any side effects.

5. How should Remifemin® tablets be stored?
Store drug out of reach of children.
Do not use the medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton
. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.

The active substance is
1 tablet contains:
0.018 to 0.026 ml liquid extract from Cimicifuga root stock (0.78 - 1:14, 1)
corresponding to 20 mg drug
extracting agent: Isopropyl alcohol 40% (v / v)
The Other ingredients are:
cellulose powder, potato starch, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, peppermint oil
