Remifemin® plus - coated tablets are used for menopausal symptoms (hot flashes, sweats) with a pronounced psycho-vegetative component such as states of mood, nervousness, irritability, poor concentration.

1. What are Remifemin® plus coated tablets and what are they used for?


Remifemin® plus - coated tablets are herbal medicinal products for menopausal symptoms
with a pronounced psycho-vegetative component.
Remifemin® plus - coated tablets are used for menopausal symptoms
(hot flashes, sweats) with a pronounced psycho-vegetative component such as
states of mood, nervousness, irritability, poor concentration.

2. What should you watch out for before taking Remifemin® plus coated tablets?


Remifemin® plus - coated tablets must not be taken
if they are also being treated with another drug
which contains one of the following drugs or a drug from one of the
following groups:
drugs to suppress rejection reactions to transplants
- ciclosporin
- tacrolimus for internal purposes Uses
- Sirolimus
Medicines to treat HIV infection or AIDS
- Proteinase inhibitors such as indinavir
- Non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors such as nevirapine
Cytostatics such as
- Imatinib
- Irinotecan
with the exception of monoclonal antibodies.
if you are hypersensitive to
cimicifuge rhizome or St. John's wort or any of the other ingredients of Remifemin® plus coated tablets,
if you know that the skin is hypersensitive to light.
Take special care when taking Remifemin® plus coated tablets:
if your menstrual period is disturbed or recurs .
You
should also consult a doctor if you have persistent unclear symptoms or if other symptoms arise. These cases may be
illnesses that need to be clarified by a doctor.
if you use hormonal contraceptives (birth control pills),
you may experience intermenstrual bleeding as a result of an interaction
come. In that case, you should
seek advice on additional contraceptive measures, as the safety of these products may be made less safe
. (Further information on interactions see 2.3).
A pregnancy must be reported to the doctor.
if your liver is damaged. Then you should
only take Remifemin® plus coated tablets after consulting your doctor.
if there are signs of liver damage (yellowing of the skin or eyes,
dark urine, pain in the upper abdomen, nausea, loss of appetite, tiredness).
Then you should stop taking Remifemin® plus coated tablets immediately
and consult a doctor.
If the symptoms
persist or if the application does not achieve the expected success , medical advice is required as soon as possible.
When taking Remifemin® plus coated tablets with other medicinal products:
Medicines which, like Remifemin® plus coated tablets,
contain ingredients from St. John's wort (Hypericum) can weaken the effectiveness of other medicinal products. Please
ask your doctor or pharmacist first if you are using other medicines,
such as coumarin-type anticoagulants (phenprocoumon,
warfarin), digoxin (medicines for heart failure), amitriptyline, nortriptyline
(medicines for depression), verparamil, simvastatin, midazolam, or
hormonal contraceptives ("pill").
With the simultaneous use of certain active substances for the treatment of depression (trazodone,
paroxetine, sertraline), undesirable effects (such
as nausea, vomiting, anxiety, restlessness, confusion) may increase in individual cases .
If your doctor prescribes other medicines for depression,
please inform your doctor that you are taking Remifemin® plus coated tablets.
With simultaneous treatment with other drugs that have photosensitizing
effects, an intensification of phototoxic effects is possible (see section 4.
“Side effects”).
The simultaneous intake of estrogens may only take place under medical supervision,
because Remifemin® plus coated tablets can intensify their effect. Talk
to your doctor.
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking
or have recently taken any other medicines , including medicines obtained without a prescription
.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding:
As insufficient studies are available, Remifemin® plus coated tablets should
not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Driving and using machines:
No studies on the effects on
the ability to drive and use machines have been performed. An impairment
Remifemin® plus coated tablets are not known to be able to drive. If you
feel sleepy after taking Remifemin® - plus dragees, you should
not drive
or use any tools or machines to be on the safe side .
Important information about certain other ingredients of Remifemin® plus -
coated tablets:
This medicinal product contains milk sugar (lactose). If you know that you
cannot tolerate certain sugars, please talk to your doctor before taking this
medicine.


3. How are Remifemin® plus coated tablets to be taken?


Always take Remifemin® plus coated tablets exactly as instructed in this
package insert. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you
are not sure.
Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is:
1 coated tablet twice a day, if necessary 2 coated tablets twice a day.
The coated tablets are swallowed whole with liquid in the morning and evening.
You can take the coated tablets with or without meals.
Duration of use:
Since the treatment
results improve with longer periods of use , Remifemin® plus coated tablets should be used over a longer period of time. However, in order
not to overlook other diseases, a doctor should be consulted after 6 months
become.
If you have taken more Remifemin® plus coated tablets than
you should:
In the event of an overdose, the skin may be more sensitive to
sunlight (photosensitization), especially in fair-skinned people.
To be on the safe side, you should avoid UV light in this case.
If you forget to
take Remifemin® plus - coated tablets: Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose
.

4. What side effects are possible?


Like all medicines, Remifemin® plus coated tablets can have side effects,
but not everybody gets them.
The evaluation of side effects is based on the following frequency ratings
:
Very common: more than 1 in
10 patients, common: 1 to 10 patients in 100, uncommon:
1 to 10 patients in 1,000,
rare: 1 to 10 patients in 10,000,
very rare: less than 1 in 10,000 treated patients
Not known: frequency cannot be estimated from the available data
Possible side effects:
rare:
1 in 10,000 treated patients
- gastrointestinal complaints (upper abdominal discomfort, diarrhea)
- allergic reactions of the skin (hives, itchy skin,
rash)
- swelling of the face or limbs
- increase in liver values ​​(transaminases)
- weight gain
very rare:
less than 1 in 10,000 treated people
- drowsiness, headache or restlessness
- especially in fair-skinned people through increased sensitivity of
the skin to UV light (photosensitization): sunburn-
like reactions of the skin areas that
are exposed to strong radiation (sun, solarium)
- liver damage when using drugs with
cimicifuge rhizomes. There is currently a certain causal link
not proven with these drugs.
In these cases you should stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor.
Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if
you become seriously affected by any of the side effects listed , or if you notice any side effects not listed
in this leaflet.


5. How should Remifemin® plus coated tablets be stored?


Do not store above 30 ° C.
Store drug out of reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the
expiry date printed on the flap on the side of this pack . The expiry date refers to
the last day of the month.
