The medicinal product contains the active substance omeprazole. Omeprazole belongs to a group of medicines called “proton pump inhibitors”. These medicines reduce the amount of acid produced in your stomach . It is used to treat duodenal ulcers and benign gastric ulcers, conditions caused by excessive production of gastrin, which is produced by the pancreas and causes excessive stomach acid. It is used in combination with other therapeutic regimens to eradicate the bacterium Helicobacter pylori in patients with peptic (mucosal) ulcers caused by its presence in the stomach and duodenum.

Dosage form

Hard enteric-coated capsules of white color, inside white to light brown pellets.

Active substance and its quantity

Active ingredient omeprazole 20 mg in one enteric-coated hard capsule.

How to use

Adults treatment of symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease, e.g. heartburn and acid regurgitation:

  • If your doctor has found that your gullet is slightly damaged, the usual dose is 20 mg once a day for 4-8 weeks. If your gullet does not heal, your doctor may tell you to take 40 mg for a further 8 weeks.
  • If the gullet has healed, the usual continued dose is 10 mg once a day.
  • If your gullet is not damaged, the usual dose is 10 mg once a day.

Treatment of ulcers in the upper part of the small intestine (duodenal ulcer):

  • The usual dose is 20 mg once a day for 2 weeks. If the ulcer does not heal, your doctor may tell you to take the same dose for a further 2 weeks.
  • If the ulcer does not heal completely, the dose may be increased to 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks.

Treatment of stomach ulcers:

  • The usual dose is 20 mg once a day for 4 weeks. If there is no improvement, your doctor may recommend that you take the same dose for another 4 weeks.
  • If the ulcer has not completely healed, the dose may be increased to 40 mg once daily for 8 weeks.

Prevention of recurrence of duodenal and gastric ulcers:

  • The usual dose is 10 mg or 20 mg once a day. Your doctor may increase the dose to 40 mg once a day.

Treatment of duodenal and gastric ulcers caused by the use of NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs):

  • The usual dose is 20 mg once a day for 4 to 8 weeks.
