Sanofi Allegra 120 mg film-coated tablets
Allegra contains fexofenadine hydrochloride; an antihistamine that doesn't make you tired.
Allegra 120 mg is used in adults and children over 12 years of age to relieve the symptoms that occur with hay fever (so-called "seasonal allergic rhinitis"). These symptoms include sneezing, an itchy, runny or blocked nose and itchy, red and watery eyes.
Contraindications
Do not take Allegra if you are allergic to fexofenadine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).

Other medicines and Allegra
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or might take/use any other medicines.
Medicines for indigestion that contain aluminum and magnesium can make Allegra less effective by reducing the amount of active substance that is absorbed by the body. It is recommended that you leave approximately 2 hours between taking Allegra and the indigestion medicine.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Do not take Allegra if you are pregnant unless absolutely necessary.
Allegra is not recommended while breast-feeding.
Driving and using machines
Allegra is unlikely to affect your ability to drive or use machines. However, you should check that these tablets do not make you tired or dizzy before driving or using machines.

Adults and children over 12 years of age
The recommended dose is 1 tablet (120 mg) daily.
Take your tablet with water before a meal.
This medicine starts to relieve your symptoms within an hour and the effect lasts for 24 hours.
side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Tell your doctor right away and stop taking Allegra if it affects you
- swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat and difficulty breathing. These could be signs of a serious allergic reaction.
The following undesirable effects were reported in clinical studies with a similar frequency as in patients who did not receive the medicinal product (placebo).
Common side effects (may affect up to 1 in 10 people):
- headache
- sleepiness
- nausea
- Dizziness.
Uncommon side effects (may affect up to 1 in 100 people):
- fatigue
- Insomnia.
Other side effects (frequency not known, cannot be estimated from the available data) that may occur:
- insomnia
- sleep disorders
- bad dreams
- nervousness
- fast or irregular heartbeat
- Diarrhea
- rash and itching
- hives
- serious allergic reactions which may cause swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, flushing, chest tightness and difficulty breathing.

The active substance is fexofenadine hydrochloride.
Each film-coated tablet contains 120 mg fexofenadine hydrochloride.
The other ingredients are:
- Tablet core: microcrystalline cellulose, pregelatinized maize starch, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate.
- Film coating: hypromellose, polyvidone, titanium dioxide (E171), colloidal silica, macrogol and iron oxide (E172).
