Effect

Analgesic, antipyretic.

Application

Mild to moderate pain (symptomatic).

Method of application

Chewed whole with plenty of liquid.

Dosage

ED 1 tablet, MTD 4 tablets. Not for children.

Contraindications

Liver and kidney damage, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, alcoholism.

Pregnancy/breastfeeding

Side effects

Paracetamol: allergies, rarely blood, methemoglobinemia, asthma, swelling of the nasal mucosa, severe liver at high dosage, kidney damage. Occasional shock. Caffeine: head pressure, sleep disturbances.

Interactions

Paracetamol: chloramphenicol, liver enzyme inducers (increased toxicity), metoclopramide (increased absorption), salicylamide, oral anticoagulants, insulin (decreased blood sugar reduction), alcohol (increased liver toxicity). Caffeine: Sedatives attenuated, tachycardic substances enhanced.

Warnings

Antidote N-acetyl-cysteine (during the first 10 hours, initially 140 mg/kg bw, maintenance dose 70 mg/kg bw after 8 hours every 4 hours) or oral methionine.
